Travel Insurance Recommendation & Acknowledgment

DeVito Departures — Travel Insurance Recommendation & Acknowledgment

Effective Date: October 2, 2026
Revision: This form may be amended or updated from time to time. The version provided at the time of booking applies to that booking unless otherwise required by law.

Strong Recommendation

DeVito Departures strongly recommends that every traveler consider purchasing comprehensive travel insurance for every trip. Travel insurance may provide protection for events that can result in substantial financial loss, including:

Many travel costs consist of non-refundable deposits, payments, and supplier penalties. These amounts may not be recoverable if a traveler cancels or a trip is interrupted. Please review the separate DeVito Departures Cancellation & Refund Policy and the applicable supplier terms before making payment. In many situations, travel insurance may be the only available means of recovering some or all of those non-refundable amounts.

Medical Coverage

Medicare and most domestic health insurance plans generally provide limited or no coverage for medical treatment outside the United States. Emergency medical care, hospitalization, transportation, and evacuation abroad can be extremely expensive without appropriate insurance.

Travelers should carefully evaluate whether a policy provides adequate emergency medical, medical evacuation, repatriation, and related coverage for the destination and activities planned. Coverage, limits, exclusions, and eligibility requirements vary by insurer and policy.

Timing and Types of Coverage

Travel insurance should generally be purchased promptly after the initial trip deposit or payment. Certain benefits and waivers—especially waivers of pre-existing condition exclusions—may require purchase within a short period, often 14–21 days after the initial trip deposit. The applicable deadline varies by insurer and policy.

Basic trip cancellation coverage generally reimburses covered, prepaid, and non-refundable trip costs when a traveler cancels for a reason specifically listed in the policy, such as certain illnesses, injuries, deaths, or other covered events. It does not usually cover cancellation for every reason.

Cancel For Any Reason ("CFAR") coverage is typically an optional benefit or upgrade to a comprehensive travel insurance policy. CFAR may allow cancellation for a reason that is not otherwise covered, but it usually:

CFAR and other benefits are not available under every policy. Travelers must review the insurer's policy documents for the exact purchase deadline, reimbursement percentage, exclusions, and eligibility requirements.

DeVito Departures' Role

DeVito Departures is a travel agency. DeVito Departures is not an insurance company, insurer, insurance broker, or licensed insurance agent. DeVito Departures does not sell, underwrite, or advise on travel insurance, does not determine whether any coverage is adequate for a traveler's circumstances, and does not receive a commission from or have an affiliation with any insurer.

DeVito Departures may provide general information about the potential benefits of travel insurance or, at the client's request, connect the client with an insurance provider. Any insurance purchase is made directly by the client from the insurer or its licensed representative. The insurance policy, not this form, controls all coverage, exclusions, claims, refunds, cancellation rights, and other terms.

Travel insurance is optional and is not required to purchase travel services from DeVito Departures. A client's decision to decline travel insurance will not affect the availability or price of travel services, except as otherwise stated in applicable supplier terms.
